Orange Farm Library

Orange Farm Library was established around 2002 and officially opened in April 2004. It is the first library at Orange Farm serving the whole community of Orange Farm from wards 1- 5, it also accommodates residents from Palm Springs, Sebokeng, Sharpeville and Vereeniging. It was built in an informal settlement area, now has developed into a beautiful township. Community around this area highly use the library for studying purposes and access to free internet. The library has active relationships with members of the community that is involved in performing arts, daycares, and other departments closer to the library. The library offers the following programs; an eLearning classroom space for digital literacy activities, Science Scuffle, Battle of the Books, Story Skirmish, Story times, Business workshops Family Literacy, Teen Book Club, Healthy Lifestyle Events, Career Expo event, and Holiday programmes. E-books are accessible by registered members of the library on overdrive. Lenasia South Library is committed to community development and continual community support because it believes that a well read and educated community is one that thrives and can defeat social ills.

    Please kindly advise what is the process to follow for inviting Joburg Library to host a career day for our high school learners?

      You can apply in person, by bringing your ID and proof of residence. You can also apply online. To apply online> You visit our website http://www.cojelearning.org.za home page and click “membership:” You fill in a Google form. Your membership will be ready within 7 days and you use the allocated number at any branch within the Johannesburg municipality

    I have a book club and I would like to know what would I need in order for me to be able to borrow books from the library and will it be possible to get more the five books of the same copy

      Thank you for your interest in our library services and well done for starting a book club to encourage reading within the community. Yes we do offer “block loans ” of up to 30 books. Please enquire within your local library regarding how long you can keep the books.

You can use that membership at any of the 87 City of Johannesburg libraries for printed books, Ebooks, and other online resources like Ebooks, digital newspapers and magazines, and online articles for your studies or research through our website.

      We are happy to hear that you would like to take books out and improve your English. Library Membership is FREE for everyone from all ages. You can register for free online. Click on Membership from the website homepage (www.cojelearning.org.za), and fill in the Google form. Your membership numbers will be ready within 7 working days. You can use that membership number for E-books and audiobooks through the Libby app, and other online resources like digital newspapers and magazines, or online articles for research through our website. You can also use it at any of the 87 City of Johannesburg libraries for printed books. You can also visit any branch to use study areas. You can ALSO register your school as an institutional member so that you can borrow a number of books for pupils, but they can also register as individuals.
